Pennsylvania Public Education Issues Survey

Conducted by the Pennsylvania Education Funding Advocacy Group
for 2006 Pennsylvania Primary Election Legislative Candidates

Name: Conrad Gosciminski Candidate for: State Representative
Party: Democrat District: 109 (Columbia County)

As both a former K-12 and College Educator, I have a simple and consist answer to your Questionnaire.

Under the former system, my students knew how both to read and comprehend what they read a draw reasonable conclusion to the meaning of the articles they read. While teaching college course to the military personnel, I found that our present levels of education in the K-College have fallen to levels that cannot be tolerated. We have for the most part gone backwards.

I will support those programs that open the doors of understanding and knowledge to include teacher education. The problems we have with our system must include the further development of the teachers knowledge base.

If further funding is necessary I will not only support it, but introduce bills to fund it. Remember that the only way to measure the success of our educational programs is by the number of companies that are willing to come to Pennsylvania and employ those who graduate from our schools, and pay them at higher rates because of the quality of their education.
