Dr. Robert Wilburn

Dr. Wilburn, who was named President of the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation in 2000, has served as the Chief Executive Officer in five quite different environments over the past 25 years. In each one he has rekindled a new sense of purpose, generating excitement and a vision of new possibilities. Under his leadership, the number of customers, members, donors, and volunteers increased sharply within each organization, bringing with them a greater sense of commitment and participation. He is currently working on a book entitled Mission Marketing to help others achieve these results. Organizations benefiting from Dr. Wilburn’s leadership include: the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where he served for six years in the cabinet of Governor Dick Thornburgh. During that time, Bob was in charge of the Office of Budget and Administration and served as Secretary of Education. He also has served as President of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Vice President of the Chase Manhattan Bank. Dr. Wilburn received a Master’s Degree and a Ph.D. from Princeton University and a B.S. from the United States Airforce Academy. He has served on a wide spectrum of corporate boards and other local, state and national boards and commissions and has received numerous awards and honors for his service and leadership.
