Provides loan forgiveness for teachers hired in Philadelphia and empowerment districts

House Bill 773 (Rep. Jerry Nailor)
Loan Forgiveness Program for Empowerment District Educators

House Bill 938 (Rep. Patrick Browne)
Provides targeted funding to urban school districts with at least 60% poverty that can be used to institute or expand full-day kindergarten, provide preschool for 4-year-olds, or for other early childhood initiatives such as Head Start.

House Bill 1274 (Rep. James Roebuck)
Urban Teacher Loan Forgiveness Act

House Bills 1627 through 1631 were developed from an investigation into violence in the Philadelphia School District, authorized by House Resolution 165 of the 2001-2002 legislative session.
  • House Bill 1627 (Rep. John Taylor)
    Allows schools to review students' court records

  • House Bill 1628 (Rep. Alan Butkovitz)
    Grants the Philadelphia School Reform Commission sole authority for establishing rules and procedures for student discipline

  • House Bill 1629 (Rep. William Keller)
    Grants the Philadelphia School Reform Commission authority to develop rules for temporarily placing a student in an alternative education program if the student is charged with an act of violence, a weapons offense, or use or sale of a controlled substance and is released prior to the trial or hearing.

  • House Bill 1630 (Rep. George Kenney, Jr.)
    Allows school districts to place transfer students in alternative education if the student transfers during a period of expulsion for an act of violence, weapons offense, or use or sale of a controlled substance.

  • House Bill 1631 (Rep. Marie Lederer)
    Allows school districts to place students in alternative education if discipline proceedings have been initiated against the student for an act of violence, weapons offense, or use or sale of a controlled substance.
