2003-2004 Education Leadership Class Now Forming
(Harrisburg) - The Pennsylvania Education Policy Fellowship Program begins its
2003-2004 program on Thursday, September 4, 2003, at Dixon University Center,
Harrisburg. Applications for the program are now being accepted.
The EPFP is a rigorous ten-month professional development program in which
participants develop a broadened understanding of the policy process and education
policy issues. Through a unique partnership with the U.S. Army War College,
Fellows also enhance strategic leadership skills. The nationally recognized
Education Policy Fellowship Program was established 40 years ago by the Institute
for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C.
"I have participated in numerous professional development programs during my 30
years as an administrator and none of them have provided me with so much relevant
information that could be immediately applicable to my administrative position,"
said Dr. Mary Frances Archey, Dean of Arts and Sciences at the Community College
of Allegheny County - South Campus and a recent EPFP graduate.
Pennsylvania PTA President Carol Ritter, a participant in the 2002-2003 EPFP class,
said "The EPLC Fellows program has been educational, motivational, and the best
professional development experience of my life. It enhanced my role as a state
leader and gave me the opportunity to network with so many people who believe in
public education and the future of children in Pennsylvania."
The Fellows program consists of one national conference and ten local seminars,
beginning on Thursday, September 4, 2003, and continuing through Friday, June 8,
2004. Monthly seminars will be held at Dixon University Center in Harrisburg, PA.
All seminars, except the opening session and the Day at the State Capitol, are
from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For more information and an application, contact The Education Policy and
Leadership Center at 717-260-9900 or see
