A proposal to bar weapons from buildings and other “sensitive areas” of Pennsylvania’s 14 state university campuses will be the subject of a webcast Thursday which the public can attend or submit comments beforehand.
The one-hour session, set for the State System of Higher Education’s headquarters in Harrisburg, comes in advance of a State System board of governors meeting Jan. 23 at which a vote on the policy could occur.
Officials have said they want to clarify rules that now vary by campus. The proposal, as described Monday by officials, appears to prohibit weapons including firearms from nearly all areas of the universities.
