Allowing teachers to carry loaded guns in school would cause more problems than it would solve, yet the state Senate Education Committee has approved a bill to allow school personnel to pack much more than their lunches.
If authorized by school boards, teachers and school staffers who have concealed-carry permits would be able to carry their guns at work.
This purports to be a public safety measure, but the bill neither mandates nor funds firearms or public safety training for those who would pack heat at school.
