Heidi Ondek is Superintendent and Executive Director of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, where the unique abilities of exceptional children are nurtured and celebrated. Heidi began her career as a special education teacher in El Paso, Texas. She has over twenty-five years of experience in school leadership, having served various public schools in the Pittsburgh region as director of special education, elementary principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. Heidi holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in Education from Duquesne University, and a doctorate degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. In her spare time, Heidi enjoys gardening, yoga, skiing, kayaking, hiking and travel.
