Pennsylvania Education Policy Activity
- The state's first-ever regulations governing
prekindergarten programs took effect upon their
publication in the December 16 Pennsylvania Bulletin. For more

- On Wednesday, the State Board of Education
held a roundtable discussion in King of Prussia to solicit public
comment on revisions to the state's special education and
gifted education regulations. For more information, contact the State Board at (717) 787-3787.
- Applications for career and technical education
curriculum and equipment grants will be accepted by the
Pennsylvania Department of Education through January 30, 2007.

- The Pennsylvania House and Senate will convene
on Tuesday, January 2 for the ceremonial swearing-in that marks
the beginning of the 2007-2008 Session. The Governor
will be sworn-in on Tuesday, January 16, marking the start of
Governor Rendell's second term. Rendell will put forth his proposed
2007-2008 state budget on Tuesday, February 6.
- The Pennsylvania Senate has released its session schedule for the beginning of 2007:
January 2, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31
February 5, 6, 7, 12, and 13
March 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28
April 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 and 30
May 1, 2, 7, 8, 21 and 22
June 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29
- EPLC's regional Workshops for School Board
Candidates will be held in January through March. Look
for details about dates and locations in coming weeks here in the
Notebook and on EPLC's web site.
- Save the dates...EPLC's 5th Annual Pennsylvania
Education Policy and Leadership Conference will be held March 29-30, 2007 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel in Camp Hill. More information will be posted on the EPLC web site in the next few weeks.
