    PENNSYLVANIA POLICYMAKERS
    State Board of Education

    The State Board of Education has extended the deadline for participation in the Pennsylvania Academic Standards Review Survey to January 4, 2008.

    The Board is embarking on a two-year review of the state's academic standards in order to update, consolidate and add clarity to the standards. Work initially will focus on the academic standards for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Mathematics, then move to review standards for Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology, History, Civics and Government, Economics and Geography. The Board is soliciting input from educators on this project that will be coordinated by the Capitol Area Intermediate Unit in conjunction with several other IUs.   • The Education Policy and Leadership Center offices will be closed next week on December 24-26, and will re-open on Thursday, December 27, 2007.


  • The Pennsylvania House of Representatives and State Senate will convene for token session on January 1 and return to working sessions on Monday, January 14.
