Mark Leidy

Executive Director, Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units

Dr. Mark Leidy is an experienced public education leader who has dedicated more than three decades to serving students, educators, and communities across Pennsylvania. In August 2024, he was appointed Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units, where he works with Intermediate Units and state partners to support educational programs and services for learners throughout the Commonwealth.

Prior to this role, Dr. Leidy served as Superintendent of the Mechanicsburg Area School District from 2010 to 2024, following earlier service as Assistant Superintendent and High School Principal. During his tenure, he guided the district through a period of sustained enrollment growth, significant capital expansion, and continued emphasis on student achievement and community engagement. His leadership experience also includes service as a secondary principal in the Fannett-Metal School District and earlier roles as a teacher, coach, and administrator in the Chambersburg Area School District.

Dr. Leidy holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Duquesne University, along with graduate and undergraduate degrees from Shippensburg University. He has remained actively engaged in statewide educational leadership through organizations such as the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and has contributed to advisory boards and initiatives focused on school safety, educator preparation, and policy development.

Mark is a graduate of the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP), the recipient of the EPLC Alumni Award, and a speaker at EPFP sessions on a regular basis.

He brings a collaborative approach to leadership, grounded in practical experience and a commitment to strengthening public education systems.
